Buddy had a seizure again

Well, Buddy is continuining to have seizures that last longer and longer each time. He started having seizures this This New Year’s Eve. They last anywhere from a couple minutes to 10 minutes or more. All of a sudden his back legs start wobbling and he falls, then his front legs wobble and fall, he lies there convulsing, shaking, and scared. His mouth curls inward, jaw clinched shut, eyes fully dialated and sheepish looking. He acts dazed and disoriented. It’s really scary to watch him go through this. Usually when he comes out of the seizure, he gets up and runs around playfully like nothing ever happened. He’s been throwing up quite often too, but that doesn’t stop him from eating or begging for people food.

Today was his 5th seizure in 5 months and lasted for 20 minutes. The 1st 10 minutes were the worst, the following 10 minutes he was slowly coming out of it. His front legs started working, then the back legs, but he couldn’t balance. He was still shaking for the remainder of the time until we got him to the Vet’s.

The Vet suspects he has epilepsy, due to the frequency of seizures and no real signs of any other source. He did some bloodwork to check his liver, kidneys, and heart. To see if the organs are functioning properly. If so, then he could have a slight brain disorder causing the seizures. He’s prescribed some meds, but once we start Buddy will have to remain on them for the rest of his life at $44.00 every 60 days and checkups every 2-6 months to monitor his blood levels and liver functions. I don’t know if its worth it. If he takes the meds…he’ll still have seizures and ultimately die. If he doesn’t take the meds…he’ll still have seizures and ultimately die. So why bother with the anti-seizure meds….especially if its an expense we can’t afford to continue.

Well, keep us in prayer. Buddy is a big part of our family. We pray that the Lord will help us make the right decisions for our family & Buddy.

Football- H.S. is for the Rich

How disappointing to find out how High School Football really works!

This year the kids have to pay over $600 each to go to football camp taking place in Hawaii. As far as we’ve been informed, there is nothing available local for the kids to go to if they can’t make the Hawaii trip. Yes, this is a wonderful opportunity…but get real. If you have more than one student participating in the sport…you need to either be wealthy or have to take out a mini-loan just for your kids to participate.

After having both sons participate last year, I’ve come to find out its really a scam to actually think you’re part of something. We not only paid nearly $2,000 plus between the two kids, but our youngest didn’t even get a letter for participating the whole season. They don’t cut kids from the team any more… for one. On top of that, the football program not only gets quite a bit of money from you, but the coach doesn’t even have to play your child at all. Especially if he gets an itch up his xxxx and chooses not to.

Okay, we all agree that if you have talent you should be able to get the coach’s attention to play. To my dismay, that’s not the case. The coach has his favorites and plays them until they get injured and then you might get a chance to play…if he feels like it. Both my boys have talent and did get chances to show it and even get called out on the loud speaker a few time for what they did. Even though they always guarded their spot well and even made some awesome take downs for the team…it didn’t matter to the coach. His favorites got worn out and a few of them hurt badly even when the team was so far ahead anyone could have played at that point.

Tim is Graduating from High School – 2007

View Tim’s Announcement by clicking here.

I can’t believe my little boy has finally become a man. This month he’ll be turning 18 years old and then graduating from High School next month on the 7th. He plans to find a decent job and get into a trade school if he can come up with enough money to get started. While he saves his money for that he is contemplating on possibly going to a local Junior College. We’ll see where it leads him. He has a few work opportunities lined up.

Imus…I hope you get the $40million plus some

I just heard on the news yesterday that Imus is suing the station that contracted him (CBS) for firing him. His contract has been worded to pretty much cover his butt for any opinion or word he says on the air. This contract has been in place for 15 years or so, so it’s not a new agenda or anything. I’m glad he had such a contract in place and I really do hope the courts award him what he’s asking.

I sat there last night watching the conversation (interrogation) by an African American Reverend and Imus. I couldn’t believe how horribly racist and unforgiving the Reverend portrayed himself. Wake up Reverend…we all have sinned and need to be forgiven. That includes you too. Imus clearly stated he was sorry that things went as far as they did as they were joking around on the air and asked for forgiveness. The Reverend couldn’t even offer forgiveness. You’re a Reverend…you know better than that… race doesn’t decide who forgives or needs forgiveness.

Helicopter Parents, according to the news

I just watched a segment on the news last night about “Helicopter Parents”. They were basically talking about the negativeness of being a parent that is extreme. Extreme meaning, not allowing your child to figure things out on his own, doing all the school work for your child as far as reports, essays, research, etc. They discussed how some parents even go as far as participating in their child’s Job Interviews and Pay Negotiations. That’s way too extreme, unless you’re an awesome athlete and need help with that. To me, Parents are smothering their child and actually causing their child to be dependent on someone else. When a parent controls every aspect of each decision a child needs to be able to make on their own….that’s HORRIBLE. I do have to agree with that point.

Where I disagree with this televised segment (brainwashing) is they try to link some necessary Parental involvement with Extreme Parental involvement. Especially when it comes to being involved with your child’s Teachers and being successful in school. I feel they were linking a Parent’s right to know what classwork & homework assignments that are taking place in the classroom…as being EXTREME. If a parent only wants to know this information to do their childs assignments…then that is outrageously wrong and not acceptable.

Summertime outings

Summer is nearly here. The weather is giving us brief samples of the hot weather to come this summer. As a kid, I’ve always thought of summertime as being the time our family goes on vacations. As simple as going to visit relatives all over the USA, going to amusement parks, beaches, special outings with family, or just swimming in our backyard pool and having friends come over to visit. All that is great and something to look forward to after a long year of school and working at getting good grades.

For my kids, they’ve come to expect the same. Over the last few years, we’ve slowed down on going to amusement parks and have focused more on family time and mini vacations camping, visiting friends and enjoying the river, going to the beach, and just relaxing.

This year….in hopes to motivate my kids to complete the last 5-weeks of school with good grades. I’ve put on the table, the opportunity to go to an Amusement Park of their choice. Choices being: Six Flaggs Magic Mountain, Disneyland, Universal Studios, or Soak City. When they were younger…the Zoo, Sea World, Disneyland, and Minitiare Golfing were the places of choice to visit. As they’ve gotten older they want more excitement. If you have teenagers, you know what I mean.

I like discount tickets, but I’m yet to find many of them for my local area. I have found some for Orlando Florida’s amusement parks, especially for Universal Studios Tickets there. Be sure to check them out if you travel to Florida for the summer. OrlandoFunTickets.com offers all kinds of great discounts to all the major attractions in the area.

Well, live it up and enjoy your summer. I’m in the process of coordinating our summer plans for us and our kids too.
