What 18 year olds need to understand.

I feel once you’re 18 years old, your parents should have already prepared you to be on your own. You should already have a manageable job. Hopefully your parents encouraged you to get “A’s” as grades in High School to be able to receive scholarships and grants towards college.

I don’t believe parents should be obligated in any way to have to finance you at all from that point on. If they choose to, then that is a privilege. You need to realize its a privelege and appreciate your parents for continuing to support you financially.

With my son, this year he turned 18 and graduated from HS. He’s had a job since he was 15 and has basically learned everything he needs to know to be on his own. Since he chose not to keep the Grades at the top levels for scholarships, attending a University is out of the question for him at this point. He can still get into a trade school or put himself through JR College.

Coupons for Online Shoppers

Okay, I have to admit….I am a coupon shopper and I favor shopping online for convenience. I don’t use coupons as often as I’d like to be, but I do search out all the ads for the highest savings coupon I can find for what I do purchase regularly. My Dad is really great at this. So is Mark’s wife Kelley…she supersedes my coupon deals that’s for sure. It’s quite impressive to see all the money they both save and all the things they get for the small amount of money actually spent.

If you too are a coupon shopper and love to use coupons, then you must visit the Coupon Chief. It’s coupons for the Online Shopper mainly. All Main Merchants that you can think of in your home area are on there and products and brands. Great variety and selections. Check it out you might find a coupon for your next purchase there.

I like skimming through Best Buy’s online ads all the time. So now I can go to Best Buy online through coupon chief and get major discounts. Another place I like to scan through the discounts for is Home Depot, especially in the summer when I consider doing major projects around the house. Can’t pass up these discounts.

Finding Major Appliances

How are your appliances handling the Summer Heat? Already this year our airconditioning thermostat decided to go on the fritz. Luckily, we have a service protection plan linked to our unit. So we called them up and they came right out and fixed the thermostat for us quickly and with no problems…thank the Lord! a few years back our whole airconditioning unit had to be replaced. Guess that’s all part of owning a home and dealing with all the weather changes.

It seems like the heat puts a lot of stress on all the major appliances. Even the refrigerator believe it or not. Everytime you open the doors, the heat just sucks out the cold air from the frig, which causes it to work harder and the compressors really take a toll. So what will you do if your frig goes out? Most likely consider buying a new one if you don’t have a warranty left or find the cheapest service tech, right?!.

So if you decide to buy a new appliance and you’re anything like me, you will go instantly to your computer. Start the drawn out job of searching the internet to checkout all your favorite stores that have the appliances you want and compare the prices and look for sales. I’ll checkout Home Depot, Lowe’s, Sears, Best Buy, etc. etc.

Well, I’ve stumbled upon Krillion.com. It’s fast and provides accurate results. It’s pretty impressive. It brings up all the Main Stream retailers for you to compare at one-time, instead of going to each individual website. Which that’s okay to do too, to double check. It sure does save a lot of time though. It seems to deliver amazing search results of all the major brands available too. I would’ve never considered purchasing Samsung Refrigerators, until I saw it brought up as an option on Krillion’s search. Check it out for yourself. This is an excellent resource link to save into your favorites.

Need a new Ceiling Fan?

Well, our ceiling fan desperately needs to be replaced. With all the choices in styles and brands, where do you start? I came across an online family-owned and generationally passed down Hardware Company that’s been around since 1924 and still remains successful in their business. It’s called, “Farrey’s.” They sell bathroom fixtures, ceiling fans, door wear, kitchen items, lighting fixtures, ventilation fixtures, and even offer an online showroom preview video of their products and brands. What a find I made coming to their website that’s for sure.

Brands they carry are: Casablanca Fan Co., Craftmade, Ellington, Fanimation (one of my favorites), Hunter, Luceplan, Matthews Fan Co, Minka Aire, Modern Fan Co., Monte Carlo, NuTone, Quorum, Westinghouse. Great choices, Free Shipping specials, and much more.

Mailboxes

Having a couple postal workers in the family, its fun to hear about all the circumstances they face on their routes. Stories about people, animals, packages, personnel, weather, or even the crazy mailboxes alone that create some kind of road block within their day. Believe me, there is always a story each and every day. Some of the stories will bring you to tears, laugh your socks off, or leave you in disbelief. At least the stories that my brother shares do. So it may have something to do with the imagination and creative ability that the storyteller has.

Are you up for a change? Why not get a customized mailbox?
Mailboxes alone come in all shapes, colors, and sizes. They are considered the Curbside Decor. Why not spruce up your mailbox for your Postman’s intrigue and relief in the regular routine of things. Want to checkout an abundance of mailboxes to choose from residential, commercial, or even customized to your unique style and tastes. Go to Mailbox Exchange.

I’d be interested in seeing which one you choose. Write me a comment and let me know.

Online College

With Tim going off to College here soon, the reality of taking courses at anOnline College has really hit home. It is becoming an extremely enticing and interesting alternative way to go. The ease of studying at your own pace and time frame from the comfort of your own home and computer, makes this truly tempting. Of course not so much for an 18 year old that wants to get away from Parents and start becoming independent. So for Tim, this may not be the best option for him at this point in time.

I’ve heard great things about Capella University as being a fully accredited online university that offers graduate degree programs in business, information technology, education, human services, psychology, and bachelor’s degree programs in business and information technology. So if those are areas of interest you’re pursuing then consider Capella’s University as a convenient option.

I’ve talked with a few people that are getting a degree through other Online Universities and they shared some pros and cons about the process. They’ve personally found that if you don’t structure your time wisely or develop a routine of some kind that works for you, it can be easy to put studies off and think you can just catch up later with no difficulty. You still have homework, projects, and deadlines. If you’re able to stay focused and set goals, you will benefit from this form of Higher Education.

Sara Orem, is one faculty member that in addition to serving the University, she is the principal of her own coaching firm, and she recently Co-Authored a new book on Appreciative Coaching. The ideas and principles that are taught are also put into practice through her own life and is reaching networks of people. Impressive! Capella offers 82 graduate and undergruate specializations and 16 certificate programs. The University is accessible from all 50 states in the United States and also offered to 56 countries.

If you’d like more information for yourself, go to Capella.edu or call 1-888-CAPELLA (227-3552)

San Diego Padres partners with SD Gay Pride Organization

Can you believe it?
There goes Petco Park!
The Padres have been suckered in to celebrate the Gay Pride Celebration.

The Padres are intentionally partnering with the San Diego Gay Pride organization and the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus for a gay pride celebration at the exact same time that they are luring thousands of families and their pre-teen children into the ballpark for the free floppy cap giveaway.

Here is what the Padres website states regarding the homosexual event occurring at the ballpark at the same time as the free kids floppy cap giveaway:

http://sandiego.padres.mlb.com/sd/ticketing/groups/pride_night.jsp

Worse part to me, its the night that the Padres give away Floppy hats to kids.

Gay Pride Men and little children….does that mix very well?

Sex offenders were found to be organizing and participating in
the Gay Pride Parade in 2005.

Horrible thing is for the last few years, a charter school with the San Diego City Schools has been participating in the Gay Pride Parade.
Have you seen how flamboyantly the Gay Parade Participants act and then to know children are being put into the middle of it. Scary thought that parents would allow their child to be subjected to that and now you can’t even go to a Ballgame without being exposed to flamboyant Gays and their personal Sexual Behavior choices. Keep it to yourself…please!!!
