Virgin Mobile Sued for Using Teen’s Flickr Photo

A family in Dallas is suing Australia based Virgin Mobile phone company for using their daughter’s photo for their advertising campaign. The lawsuit, filed in state district court in Dallas, names Virgin Mobile USA LLC, its Australian counterpart, and Creative Commons Corp., as defendants.

The family claims this caused their teenage daughter grief and humiliation by having her photo on billboards and Web site advertisements without consent. As a parent, I can understand the frustration of someone using your child’s photo without your knowledge, it’s not acceptable whatsoever. In this case, the photo was put on Flickr by an every day Joe that went to church camp and was sharing his photos with his friends through the Flickr forum.

I Miss Tim! Be Sure to Call Your Parents!

Okay, I have to admit it. I miss my son, Tim. Even though I know he’s doing fine and staying with family (Mark & Kelley), there’s still a part of me that misses hearing his voice every day.I hope he’ll eventually find a minute or two throughout his day to call me and say HI.

I remember going through all the child-rearing stages of feeling like, when they get out of diapers it’ll be easier. When they go to pre-school it’ll be easier. When they go to Elementary School it’ll be better and easier. I can’t wait til they get through High School and leave the house, then it’ll be easier.Well, to my amazement, you’re glad their on their own and out

of the house, but your heart still misses the relationship that has been developed over the years.

Lakeside Cafe

JabberJuls Rating: “Big High Five”
I’ve been meaning to give a review of the new “Lakeside Cafe” for some time now. Well, today’s the day. The Lakeside Cafe has taken on the old “Annie Oakly” restaurant. The owners gutted the old restaurant out and completely revamped it. They added huge windows on the Eastern and Southern sides of the building, which really opened up the place and gave it a lot more light in place. Brand new kitchen, bathrooms, tables, booths, beautiful paintings and decor. It’s a wonderful upgrade.
